Kolping World Prayer Day: Höchstädt celebrates with Uganda and Nigeria!
In an important event on October 20 in Höchstädt, the Kolping district association Mittel-Donau celebrated the Kolping World Prayer Day in the parish church of the Assumption. The focus of the fair was not only the support for Kolping Uganda, but also a very special guest: Father Tobias Ukeh, the Kolping national president from Nigeria. This ceremonial meeting was organized in the presence of the diocesan president Wolfgang Kretschmer and other regional representatives, who together with around 60 participants the quote from Adolph Kolping, "first I want to endeavor to be human, the truth a witness, to whom people are a brother," emphasized.
Kolping Uganda as a focus
To celebrate the community and the international Kolping network, the fair also counted the presentation of Kolping Uganda, which has played a central role within the Kolping family since its foundation in 1977. In numerous dioceses, the Uganda Kolping Society (UKS) is involved with over 14,000 members, which come primarily from economically disadvantaged conditions. Initiatives to improve living conditions and programs such as the savings and credit system help the members to successfully expand their business.
The festive atmosphere was accompanied by musical performances by a “spontaneous” choir, while the magnificent picture of banners from different Kolping families framed the event. The words and actions of the Kolping community show the tireless efforts for a fairer society that goes far beyond national borders. The fair is an expression of hope and solidarity, while everyone present prayed for their global siblings and campaigned for a better future.
