New van for the Osterhofener Tafel: lifesaver on wheels!

Osterhofen, Deutschland - In Osterhofen, those responsible for the Osterhofener Tafel with pleasure have joyfully introduced a new van. This new vehicle, which was purchased for a price of around 65,000 euros, is absolutely necessary to carry out the daily food transport. The financing came completely through donations, which reflects the efforts and good will within the community. Christl Vierthaler, the head of the Tafel, emphasized: "We saved on it for a long time."

Jakob Irber, the organizer responsible for the transport, noted that the new van can comply with the cold chain, which is essential for hygiene when it comes to food distribution. "According to my information, the vehicle can theoretically cool down to zero degrees," he explained, while he confirmed the symbolism of the handover of the keys by Bernhard Feuerecker, the district chairman of the AWO. Feuerecker added that the old orange vehicle has covered over 200,000 kilometers and therefore the new van is urgently required support.

The commitment of the community

Feuerecker emphasized that the new van for the board is an important “tool” in order to continue to work efficiently. "The table cannot work if the helpers were not involved," he said, encouraging everyone involved to continue support. Mayor Thomas Etschmann, who represented the city of Osterhofen, congratulated the table and recalled that the number of people who rely on the help of the board has increased considerably. "In the meantime, 160 people come every week and fetch food for a total of 350 people," he said, pointing out that this trend was a nationwide phenomenon.

The city not only participates financially on the board, but also offers practical help. Etschmann announced that the vehicle can be parked on the former Baywa site in winter-a measure that should benefit the volunteers because they don't have to scratch in the cold in winter before they start.

special blessing of the van

As part of the celebrations, parish vicar Pater curiaos blessed the new van. His speech focused on the importance of the community and mutual support in difficult times. He asked for protection against dangers for everyone who is traveling with the new vehicle. He then sprinkled the van with holy water, which is a symbolic act of hope and protection.

The morning was rounded off with an invitation by Jakob Irber to a small festival in the Arcrobräu, where he promised: "This is not at the expense of the board." He mentioned that he recently celebrated his 80th birthday and would like to share this with those present.

The Osterhofener Tafel is always looking for further support from the population. For example, donated, well -preserved clothing, toys or freshly harvested foods from private gardens are very welcome. However, self -prepared foods cannot be accepted.

This new van is a crucial step for the Osterhofener Tafel, which could not exist without the help of volunteers and donors. The initiatives of the board are a remarkable proof of how important voluntary work is in today's society.
