Women's shelter Dachau: 170 those seeking help rejected - where is the support?

In the Dachau women's shelter there is an alarm mood! The shocking numbers speak for themselves: Last year, an incredible 170 women had to be rejected who urgently looked for help. The situation throughout Germany is catastrophic - there is a lack of places and staff in the women's shelters. A new violence law could bring the rescue, but the implementation remains questionable.

Since its foundation in 1998, the Dachau women's shelter is fighting against massive resistance. The first application for the construction was rejected in the district council! Only on the second attempt was a majority of the district councils prevailed against the CSU. But even today, political support for women who suffer from violence is anything but sufficient. Laura Kaufmann, the head of the facility, raises the alarm: "The security of women is not prioritized!"

urgent need for action

The dramatic location in the Dachau women's shelter is a reflection of the nationwide crisis. Women looking for protection stand in front of closed doors. The need for a law of violence is becoming more and more urgent in order to finally give the women concerned the help that they urgently need. Time is pushing and the voices of the aid organizations are louder - it is high time for changes!
