A shocking incident occurred on the evening of December 14, 2024 in Weichs, district of Dachau when an 18-year-old jumped into a pond when trying to flee a supermarket after a break-in. According to the police, the young man was heavily alcoholized and had previously hit the window front of the supermarket with a gully cover. As a result, he stole cigarettes worth around 2500 euros, which he packed in three plastic bags. On his escape route, he noticed a patrol that was called to the supermarket due to an alarm and so the chaotic escape of the perpetrator, which ultimately led him into the cold water, started, such as reported.

When the 18-year-old noticed the police, he panicked the fleeing towards the pond, where he disposed of his prey in the water and plunged into the icy water. The outside temperatures were close to freezing. Police officers later found him driving in the water and finally saved him. When the thieves are recovered, the local fire brigade and the water guard from Markt Indersdorf and Dachau also had to come to help in order to get the cigarettes out of the pond. The young man then admitted that he had committed the break-in and tried to eliminate the evidence, as reported by n-tv.de

After the young man received dry clothes in the police station, it turned out that he was traveling without a valid insurance license plate and also drunk on a stolen e-scooter. The officers made a breath alcohol value of over a per thousand. In addition to the break -in, he now also threatens criminal consequences for drunkenness in road traffic. The incident not only led to a large police operation, but also serious legal consequences for the 18-year-old.
