New location in Würzburg: Solwodi strengthens women's rights in Lower Franconia

The women's rights organization Solwodi (Solidarity with Women in Distress) recently announced an important change for the Lower Franconia region. From now on there is not only the well -known specialist advice center in Gemünden, but also a new location in Würzburg. This is particularly important for women with migration experiences or from an escape context that is in need or violence.

One of the main causes for this innovation is the announced closure of the advice center in Bad Kissingen at the end of the year. With the move to Würzburg, Solwodi wants to address the needs of women in this city and their surroundings. In a press release, it is described that this step is a strategic realignment to support more women and families in the region.

Another positive aspect of this change is the financial support of the Bavarian state government. For 2024, the promotion of Solwodi specialist advice centers in Bavaria was raised by 106,000 euros to a total of 488,000 euros. These funds benefit primarily to the specialist advice centers in Lower Franconia and are an important basis for the work of the organization, which has been funded by the Free State since 2005

"Our goal is to offer these women and their children comprehensive advice and support. We also provide anonymous and secure accommodations," explains Barbara Wellner, one of the board members of Solwodi. It refers to the tragedy and the challenges with which many clients are confronted, which are often victims of human trafficking, forced prostitution and severe violence in the context of flight and migration. "The care is individually tailored to the specific needs and situations of every woman and her children," she adds.
