Fraudsters beat: 64-year-old loses five-digit amount!

In Lower Franconia, unscrupulous shock callers drive their mischief and use emotional manipulation to bring unsuspecting citizens for their money. A particularly brazen case occurred in the Bad Kissingen district, where a 64-year-old was caused by the fraudsters to drive to Schweinfurt to hand over a five-digit amount of money to an alleged relative. The stitch? A fictitious fatal accident that a relative is said to have caused. In order to avert a supposed prison sentence, the man was asked to pay deposit.

The handover took place in a parking lot on Gunnar-Wester-Straße, between the adult education center and the Friedrich-Rückert primary school. The Kripo Würzburg has taken over the investigation and appeals to the population to report suspicious calls immediately. Last week there were several attempts to fraud in the city and district of Schweinfurt and in the Haßberge district, but many seniors recognized the perfidious stitch in good time and informed the police.

On Monday, the fraudsters tried again to make prey in the districts of Haßberge and Rhön-Grabfeld, but here, too, the called people remained steadfast and alerted the authorities. The police headquarters in Lower Franconia already had the prevention campaign "Lay on!" launched to clarify the citizens about such fraud stitches. In July 2022, the campaign "I shoot grandma and grandpa" was started, which particularly includes young people to warn their grandparents of these fraudsters.

The police emphasize: "Put on and choose the emergency number 110!" It is important to know that the police never request money or jewelry to pick up. These warnings are crucial to prevent further victims and bring the fraudsters to the route.
