In the explosive derby of the ice hockey district league West, the EG Woodstocks Augsburg had to accept a bitter defeat. Against the SG EHC/EV Königsbrunn, the team of coach Andi Reich lost 2: 6 in the Curt-Frenzel Stadium. The game, held in front of around 70 spectators, offered intensive and hard -fought scenes that kept the fans in suspense until the last minute. Maximilian Merkel took care of the two Augsburg goals and was able to compensate for the game again and again, but ultimately the Königsbrunn team decided decisively due to a double strike in the third third.
game course and reactions
The first two thirds were still promising for the Woodstocks, with strong moves and a solid defense. After a short five-minute penalty time, it seemed as if they could create the turn, but an unfortunate goal in the last third brought the decision. Reich expressed itself optimistically: "The 2: 6 does not quite fit the course of the game, we were not four goals worse." Nevertheless, this defeat meant that the Woodstocks fell in fifth in the table with 17 points, while SG Königsbrunn was able to take 20 points and third place, such as Sport-in-augsburg.de reported.
For the EG Woodstocks, another important game follows, on Sunday against SG ESV Bad Bayersoien/EC Peiting 1b, which is currently leaders. This encounter could be crucial for returning to the track of success to catch up in the table.
