The focus on affordable mobility: 82 % of Austrians demand apps such as Uber!

In the middle of increasing living costs, the demand for affordable mobility is getting louder. A current survey shows that eight out of ten Austrians believe that they need affordable alternatives to their own car. In rural regions in particular, there is a high need for flexible mobility offers such as the use of apps to organize trips. Over 75 percent of the respondents expect the politics to meet their responsibility and promote inexpensive mobility services. This survey confirms that efficient and inexpensive options have become a priority for many, as klick-kaernten.at reported.

Uber data show change in mobility

In order to support the demands for affordable mobility, Uber has now published its first “Germany Atlas”. This comprehensive data analysis provides information about the user profiles and the most popular travel destinations of the Uber app, which is now available in 19 German cities. Interestingly, more than a third of the users stated that they no longer have their own car, which underlines the trend towards more shared mobility solutions. While the average waiting time is five minutes on an override and the drivers are rated with 4.88 stars, the statistics also show that users prefer to book emission-free vehicles if they have to wait longer. The need for transparency and security is also becoming increasingly relevant, especially for women, as in the report of Uber

The survey results show that younger generations are quick, uncomplicated, while older users value flexible options. Especially in remote areas there is a high willingness to share costs through carpools - a solution that is required in rural regions. Apart from mobility issues, the Uber-Atlas also shows that the friendliest users live in Augsburg and Hanover, where they received the highest ratings. User statistics also illustrate the growing influence of app-based transport services in Germany, which change mobility behavior sustainably. Uber's “Germany Atlas” could thus make a decisive contribution to discussion about affordable mobility.
