Aschaffenburg Technical University: Innovation boost for students!

The Technical University of Aschaffenburg, which has been entitled Technical University (TH) since 2019, has a positive development in its range of courses and the number of students. In 2019, the range of courses in the direction of computer science began to expand with the Medical Engineering and Data Science courses, followed by software design in 2020. The first graduates of the software design course are expected for 2024. In 2023, an English-language bachelor's degree, Software Design International, was introduced to attract international students.

An important project is the opening of the technology transfer center Sustainable energies in Alzenau, which plays a central role in the regional economy. In addition, the Technology Transfer Center Zewis in Obernburg 2024 received increased basic financing from 440,000 euros to 770,500 euros annually and was recognized as the most successful transfer center in Bavaria. The Faculty of Health Sciences was founded in 2021 with the midwifery course, which recorded great influx: over 200 applications for 30 places were submitted.

Financial support and new courses

The TH Aschaffenburg also receives significant financial support. From the science budget of the state budget, the university receives 300,000 euros for a Skills Lab in the Physician Assistant course, which is largely due to the state parliamentarian Prof. Dr. Winfried Bausback and Judith Gerlach were initiated. In addition, the Bavarian state government provides around 250,000 euros for the university's profile formation. President Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Beck-Meuth was grateful for these means, which form an essential basis for the implementation of attractive projects at the university.

For the Physician Assistant course, which attracts a high level of interest - 300 applications for 60 places alone - applications can be submitted from May 2. Further information is available on the university's website and at the study information day on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Overall, the diversification of the course of the course leads to increasing number of students, currently 3,750, compared to 3,200 in 2019. Since its foundation, TH Aschaffenburg has produced over 10,200 graduates 30 years ago, more than half of which remain in the region. The founding of the centria.hub and the venture Lab for promoting company foundations also shows the commitment of the university to act as the motor of the regional economy.

Through a combination of presence theory and digital elements, the Theschaffenburg pursues a future -oriented educational strategy that also includes the integration of international partner universities. Since 2019, 30 new professorships have been set up, 30% of which are occupied by women to improve the framework conditions for students and teachers.
