Memmingen takes measures against the African swine fever!

Memmingen, Deutschland - The city of Memmingen has issued a crucial general decree to effectively counter the impending danger of the African swine plague (ASP). This measure, which is supported by the district administrative authorities across Bavaria, comes about, although no case is currently known from ASP in Memmingen itself. The regulations serve primarily for prevention and in the event of a possible outbreak, strict locking zones are to be set up for the affected areas. These zones would result in comprehensive restrictions on meat processing companies, including special provisions for the slaughtering and processing of pigs that were held within these zones, such as on memmingen.de

The ASP is considered extremely dangerous for pigs and can lead to massive losses in animal husbandry within a short time. In the neighboring federal states of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg, several cases have already been reported to wild boars, which has led to increased measures in Bavaria. In particular in the districts of Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg, an obligation to investigate for all died or emerged pigs was introduced. In addition, special regulations for the recording and proper disposal of killed wild boar meat are in force, such as "https://www.lgl.bayern.de/tiergesseit/tiersheit/virusinfections/asp/index.htm"> lgl bayern

In order to be able to react better to ASP outbreaks in the future, a lot was also done in hunting. Hunters in the affected counties receive at least 100 euros allowance for the hunting of wild boars. The African swine plague is not a danger to humans, but is often fatal for pigs. Preventive measures and effective crisis management are all the more important to prevent damage to agriculture.
