Big rescue operation: 79-year-old saved after falling in the upper forest!

in Alzenau recently a dramatic situation when a 79-year-old man was missing. After his son alarmed the police, extensive search measures immediately started. The Alzenau fire brigade took the first steps, supported by the fire brigades from Hörstein and Albstadt. These emergency services were equipped with special off-road vehicles, so-called ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle), in order to be able to work more efficiently in the difficult terrain.

Additional support received the rescue operation from the rescue dog squadron of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) and the mountain rescue service, which together with an operations manager of the emergency services, Tim Dornhecker from the BRK district association Aschaffenburg, led the search. In total, a total of 22 firefighters were actively involved, while a police helicopter supported the search out of the air to find the missing person quickly.

On Wednesday morning at 8:35 a.m., the first successes were visible when a fire department was able to locate the missing person near the Hahnenkamm parking lot in the Oberwald. It turned out that the man had fallen and suffered injuries.

After the primary care of the rescue workers, the 79-year-old was handed over to the re-alerted emergency services as soon as possible. This ensured that the man was immediately taken to a hospital where he received further medical treatment. Such missions impressively show the importance of a rapid reaction and the cooperation of different rescue organizations.
