Ansbach, Deutschland - During New Year's Eve at the turn of 2024/2025, an Israeli flag was damaged at the town hall in Ansbach. Two young people, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, were arrested immediately after the crime. A witness had reported on the police call that several people shot at the flag with fireworks. When the police arrived, several participants took flight.

The police found damage to the flag and the town hall facade. The ANSBACH criminal police officer took over the investigation. By evaluating mobile phones from the suspects and video recordings by witnesses, other accomplices were identified. A total of three other people were determined as suspects: a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old who threw fireworks on the flag, as well as another 15-year-old who tried to tear down the flag. These young people have Afghan, Syrian and Iraqi citizenship, and the investigators assume a political motive.
