Golden wedding in Etzelwang: Mayor congratulates the jubilee couple Walters!

In the picturesque Lehental in Bavaria, a very special celebration was held recently: Gisela and Henri Walters from the neighboring country of Netherlands committed their golden wedding. Over 50 years ago, the Walters family discovered the beauty of the region when she went on vacation with the Donhauser family. Among the guests was a young Henri who not only closed the breathtaking landscape, but also the charming Gisela in his heart.

The first joint steps of the two were shaped by the question of where their future should be. In 1972 Henri took the move and settled in Etzelwang. The big day followed two years later: On October 4, 1974, Gisela and Henri said yes and began a journey together that continues to this day.

professional paths and personal milestones

Henri started his professional career in the Heumüller electrical store in Neukirchen. He later worked in Nuremberg at the Elektronik Baumüller company and finally moved to Linn in Eschenfelden to be closer to his family. In 1978 the two realized their dream of their own home and built a house in Leendorf, where they still live.

In order to be recognized as an electronics technician in Germany, Henri completed three years of training. He built a successful career and worked in the Megatec company in Lehenhammer for 25 years until he retired. Gisela, who also followed her professional career, was active in various branches and even served from 1990 to 1996 in the municipal council of Etzelwang.

The celebration for the golden wedding became an unforgettable event by their two sons and their families, including seven grandchildren. Mayor Roman Berr took the opportunity to deliver the best wishes of the community to the couple and present a gift. The family beamed with joy and gratitude while looking back on the many years together.

Such a festival is not only a celebration of love, but also proof of how strong relationships across borders can be. Gisela and Henri Walters are a nice example that a lifelong partnership can arise from a vacation space. Your story will surely inspire many other generations.
