Construction work on the B6: Traffic in Oschatz has to change!

Oschatz.The B6 between Oschatz and Meißen is once again becoming a construction site! From Monday, November 18th, the roadway will be renewed over a stretch of around 300 meters near Seerhausen. This work takes place between the junction of the B 169 and the old B 169, which leads via Kalbitz and Pausitz to Riesa city center. Drivers must prepare for a partial closure while traffic is redirected towards Meißen.

For commuters from Meißen to Oschatz this means: A diversion via the B 169 to Salbitz and further via the S 30 to Lonnewitz is announced! The closures and diversions are expected to last until December 20th. This construction work comes just a week after the completion of work on another section of the B 6 and represents a further restriction on traffic on this important transport axis. Motorists are urged to observe the signposted detours and allow more time for their journeys.

Mandatory exchange of paper driving licenses in Northern Saxony

North Saxony.The driving license authority of the North Saxony district has launched an important appeal! Citizens born before 1971 must exchange their old paper driving license for the new EU standard in card format by January 19, 2025. Otherwise, the old driver's license will be invalid and driving without a valid document may result in fines.

This mandatory exchange is part of an EU-wide standardization that aims to make the new card driving licenses more forgery-proof. The deadline for the exchange depends on the year of birth or issue of the driving license, and all old documents must be replaced by January 2033 at the latest. Citizens are urged to contact their responsible driving license office in good time!
