Tettnang on the abyss: debts rise at record height!
In Tettnang, a debt mountain that could soon reach the 78 million euro mark! The city administration recently presented the preliminary figures and investment plans for 2025, and the prospects are dark. The budget will not be balanced, and the forecasts will show a dramatic increase in debt of 49.4 million euros in 2025 to shocking 73 million euros by 2027.
Treasurer Claudia Schubert unveiled that the tax revenue that over 60 percent of the total income is to be more than 44 million euros in 2025. The trade tax alone will make up the largest share with 19.5 million euros. But the expenditure is alarming: around 31.7 million euros, i.e. 41 percent of the budget, flow into transfer expenses, including the district levy, which will cost Tettnang 12.6 million euros in the coming year.

Planting the city of 2025 loans of 18 million euros in order to finance several major projects. This includes a new sports hall, for which 5.5 million euros are planned, as well as the construction of a roundabout at the Schäferhof/Oberhof intersection, which should cost 1.1 million euros. The renovation of urban buildings is also on the agenda, including Lindauer Straße 19 and the Carl-Gührer-Halle, which urgently need to be repaired.
In addition, 700,000 euros are to flow into the conversion of bus stops for accessibility, while 200,000 euros are invested in the climate fund. The fire brigade receives a new vehicle for 2.5 million euros. The administration also plans a 50 percent position to support older people to enable them to have a longer life in their own four walls.
