Zollernalbkreis, Deutschland - The Landratsamt Zollernalbkreis gives an urgent warning signal: the countdown is running! For everyone who was born after 1970, the deadline for exchanging your paper driving license ends on January 19, 2025 for the modern, counterfeit-proof EU card license. Christoph Foth, the head of the regulatory office, makes it unequivocally clear: "All other driving license holders now have to have a counterfeit-proof EU card license". If you miss the deadline, you risk warning money with a police check!

However, there is good news for older drivers! Even for people whose year of birth lies before 1970, there is still the possibility to exchange the old driver's license - however, this does not apply to those born before 1953. In order to avoid long waiting times, it is urgently advised to make an appointment for the exchange. On the website www.zollernalbkreis.de/ferschlüsings there is all important information!

How does the exchange work?

Personal exchange requires only a few simple documents: a current biometric passport photo, your ID card or passport as well as the driver's license itself. But that's not all! If you want to save yourself time, you can also conveniently send the application to the driver's license office by post.

For the exchange, costs of 25.30 euros are currently incurred. If you want to extend the C classes (truck/bus) at the same time, you have to pay 38.80 euros. Especially for the owners of temporary driving permits of the C/D classes: you should make your application for extension six months before your driving license has expired to avoid nasty surprises!
