Warning! Health risks: Dubai chocolate in Hesse under fire!

On January 9, 2025, food testers in Hessen carried out an investigation of the so-called Dubai chocolate, which is criticized due to rumors about possible molds. These chocolate, which is sold at the price of around 15 euros per table, only showed defects in one of the tested samples. The complained chocolate came from Turkey and was sold in the Main-Taunus district. Here, information on ingredients and nutritional values were missing on the label. In addition, it was found that the Dubai chocolate has gained popularity through social media and is offered in many shops. The Ministry of Nutrition, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg (MLR) has published the results of a review on the basis of health concerns. When examining eight imported samples, contaminants, dyes, allergens and external fat were found. The MLR then initiated a nationwide special program to control the offers of this chocolate. It was also reported that non -declared sesame was discovered in three samples from Turkey, which is a health risk, especially for allergy sufferers. In the rehearsals from the United Arab Emirates, foreign fat had been found instead of real chocolate, which means that five samples were classified as not suitable for human consumption due to manufacturing contamination. The MLR referred to the rehearsals of the Dubai chocolate as consumer deception and emphasized the associated health risks, such as
