New custody in Hohentengen: Security against African swine fever!

Hohentengen, Deutschland - In Hohentengen, a brand -new consolation for wild boar carcasses was opened! This facility in the industrial area is part of a comprehensive plan to combat the African swine plague (ASP). With this new station, there are now a total of five such storage points in the Waldshut district, which enable hunters to secure and hygienic disposal of deadly game.

The refrigerator room, which is also known as a confiscation, will now be used to hand over parts of the wild boar killed before they are removed for final disposal. Access is exclusively for hunters and the veterinary office to ensure the highest hygiene standards. Norbert Liesemann from the Veterinary Office emphasizes: "The free and safe disposal is crucial to prevent the spread of the African swine fever." From January 1, 2024, hunters are no longer allowed to trace carcass remnants into the forest - a regulation that was introduced as a preventive measure against the ASP.

Community project for security

The new attitude is the result of a joint project between the municipality of Hohentengen and the Waldshut district. The construction started in early September and the total costs amounted to around 27,000 euros, with the district bearing most. Mayor Jürgen Wiener said that the substructure of the container was built by the community. This initiative shows how important it is to combat the spread of diseases such as the African swine fever and to ensure the safety of wildlife stocks.
