Stuttgart discusses: 300 new teaching positions despite the budget crisis!
Stuttgart, Deutschland - Stuttgart is all about a violent political ring! The tips of the Greens and CDU have come together for a decisive exchange of blows about the creation of hundreds of new teaching positions. According to information from the German Press Agency, the Greens surprisingly demanded 300 additional teaching places at the meeting of the budget commission. This requirement comes at a time when the coalition actually searches for ways to save almost two billion euros in the budget draft!
The CDU was flipped by this late demand for the Greens. It was only on Tuesday that educational associations in the country had even demanded at least 1,500 new teaching positions! The tension in the coalition increases while the country is sliding into a budget crisis. The latest tax estimates show that Baden-Württemberg will have to do less than originally thought at 1.85 billion euros less in the next two years. This is attributed to the weakening economy and adjustments in tax law.
financial burdens and new debts
A spokesman for the Ministry of Finance confirmed that a coverage concept for coping with the financial gap was generally agreed, but the details are still unclear. In the current budget, 980 million euros are already planned as a reserve for possible minor revenue. Part of this gap could be covered by additional debts. The so -called economic component of the debt brake allows the country to take another 425 million euros in debt in order to cushion the deteriorated economic prospects. A reduction in funds for the pension fund is also under discussion. The political waves in Stuttgart beat up!
