Bridge demolition ensures hours of the A7 at Ulm!

Ulm, Deutschland - On Sunday morning, unexpected delays on the A7 near Ulm. It was originally planned that the work on the bridge demolition between Holzheim and Finningen should be completed at 6 a.m. In fact, the section remained closed to traffic until around 9 a.m., which annoyed many drivers.

This delay turned out to be annoying because the construction work took so long that the route used was still impassable up to almost three hours after the intended end. The original time frame for the demolition had started for Saturday evening at 9 p.m.

diversions for traffic

The drivers were forced to use the diversion routes set up. For those who were traveling north from Vöhringen, several alternatives were provided:

  • road users who want to Ulm should go to Senden via the district road NU14 and the Vöhringer bypass, from where they get through the city and finally to the B28.
  • Anyone who controls the destination and still wants to go to the A7 must dodge via Weißenhorn and Pfaffenhofen.
  • For travelers who want to go to the A8 in the direction of Munich, an abbreviation is recommended via Weißenhorn, Pfaffenhofen and directly to Günzburg.

For the road users who come from Ulm, the usual access via the B28 remained on the A7. In particular, drivers who wanted to drive off the A7 in Nersingen had to accept the detour via the B10 to Neu-Ulm to get there.

The current challenges on the section of the A7 illustrate the importance of stable and reliable transport infrastructures as well as the effects of construction work on flowing traffic. This is a topic that increasingly focuses on, especially when planning larger projects in the region.
