The construction work that started at the end of August should enhance the surroundings around the source by December 2028. These improvements cost the city millions. Previously, the source was almost completely closed to public transport, which the restaurateurs in the area had made alarm. Up to half a million people visit the blue pot annually, and the closure led to drastic sales losses among restaurateurs. Landlady Andrea Schneider-Yigit from the Blautopf Gasthof said: "You could have included the bridges in the planning from the start."

Harder communication about closure has already caused enormous damage, with a loss of sales of up to 85 percent that threaten many companies. It is currently being checked whether the city can be liable for the financial failure. "The measures on and around the blue pot present us as a small city," said Mayor Siebold.
