New nature trail in Bad Saulgau: Discover the history of the region!

A new adventure for nature lovers and those interested in history! After a year of intensive planning, Bad Saulgau opened a breathtaking natural and history path. This approximately 8.7-kilometer path meanders through the picturesque landscapes around Braunenweiler, Ober- and Untereggatsweiler, Burgstock and Ziegelhof. The creative idea comes from Berthold Stützle, Ottmar Stützle and the environmental representative Thomas Lehenherr, supported by Bernhard Wetzel, who wrote the texts. The city administration has now announced the good news!

At the end of October the time had come: In cooperation with the environmental officer and the local administration, the municipal building yard set numerous explanatory boards and signposts. The frames for these tablets were made by Hermann Engler. Thanks to the approval of all affected property owners, the teaching trail could be built without hurdles. The district office approved the use of the forest paths, so that hikers can now experience the beauty of nature and the history of the Region up close.

a path full of discoveries

The path begins at the town hall of Braunenweiler, where an overview board presents the exciting history of the place. From there, the path leads through the mysterious Wald Schelmberg, past the Keltenschanze and the impressive wind turbines. A highlight is the Lourdesgrotte with a resting bench on the former Staudamm Obereggatsweiler, ideal for a little breather. The path continues to the former Brunsberg/Braunsberg Castle, where a new explanatory board was set up, which lets visitors immerse yourself in history.

In Untereggatsweiler there is the opportunity to visit the newly renovated St. Georg church before the path leads to Wasenried. Here two explanatory boards and a resting bench invite you to linger. The boards provide information about the history of the Ried and the effects of beavers on biodiversity. The last section of the circular route leads the hikers back to the town hall, where the adventure ends. The official opening hike will soon be announced by the local administration - an event that should not be missed!
