Maltese in Sigmaringen: 1.7 million euros for modernized emergency services!

A new rescue station was opened in Sigmaringen, which was built with a significant investment volume of 1.7 million euros. This sum results from own funds from the Maltese aid service and grants, including 487,000 euros from the Tübingen regional council and 270,000 euros from the Archdiocese Caritas Association. The ceremonial inauguration took place after a service in the Hedingen church, in which auxiliary bishop Peter Birkhofer and other clergymen were present.

Thanks to extensive renovation and renovation measures, the employees are now enjoying modern working conditions. This includes 1600 square meters of usable space in the avenue, additional areas in the Hedinger Hof and renovations on outbuildings. Newly designed fire protection precautions and training rooms offer an optimal basis for the missions of the Maltese.

Comprehensive investments for modern rescue service

The renovation work is part of a long-term development of the Maltese in Sigmaringen, which began in 1982 under the direction of Prince Franz von Hohenzollern. The move to the princely riding stable was the first step at the time, which later led to the creation of larger areas for the diverse tasks of the aid service. In 2002 the Hedinger Hof was renovated for the Maltese youth and then the service constantly expanded its premises.

In recent years, the Maltese has fought space problems because additional driving services and inserts needed more space. Therefore, they decided to bring all locations together and to renovate the avenue comprehensively. During the progress of the work, changing rooms for men and women were separated and modernized garage and bedrooms were set up. These measures have also significantly improved the quality of life and working conditions for employees.

The construction work that began in October 2023 with the demolition of older parts of the building were not always easy. A committed team of Maltese employees faced the challenge of the renovation, and Managing Director Fabian Vees publicly recognized the tireless efforts of his colleagues. Their support was crucial to ensure that the new premises meet today's requirements for the emergency services.

Positive reviews and honing gestures

During a visit to Sigmaringen, the office was awarded a high rating of 1.0 by the Maltese headquarters in Cologne. This shows not only the quality of the work on site, but also how important Sigmaringen is as a location for the Maltese relief service. Vice President Albrecht Prince of Croy and diocesan director Dominicus of Mentzingen emphasized the importance and efficiency of the Sigmaringen location in their greetings.

In addition, the Malteser Hilfsdienst was given a check of 1500 euros from the engineering office Jerg, which supervised the renovation work. Such gestures of support show not only the connection to the region, but also the recognition for the consistently good cooperation between everyone involved.

The new building with its modern facilities and sufficient parking spaces, including wall boxes for electric vehicles, will enable Maltese to react even more efficiently to emergencies and to offer the citizens in Sigmaringen the best possible support. The commitment of the Maltese and the investments in the future show how seriously the organization takes its responsibility to help people in need.
