Magic sounds: District Association Youth Orchestra enchants Beuroner Abbey Church

A magical sound experience developed in the Beuron Abbey Church when the district association youth orchestra under the direction of Ralf Uhl gave its 17th concert. The audience was kidnapped into a world full of music and emotions, which she held in breathless silence until the end. The final applause that started after the concert was the deserved sign for the artists who delighted the audience with their performance.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Ralf Uhl's own composition "The Last Forest Fairy". With eleven minutes full of eleven chants and natural noises, supported by innovative sound generators such as a creaking wooden frog and singing bird water pipes, the orchestra kidnapped the audience into a magical forest. This musical journey told the story of a forest elf, which as a guardian of nature roams through untouched forests and absorbs the fight against dark powers.

A festival of sounds

The concert opened with Georg Friedrich Händel's "fireworks music" and closed with the same work, which symbolically took up the current global situation and conjured up the spirit of peace. The haunting sounds of Joe Hisaishi's Nausicaä requiem, who is world famous for his film music, also left a lasting impression. The young musicians visibly showed joy and passion in their performances.

The piece "Come, Sweet Freedom" by James L. Hosay, which conveyed a melancholic but hopeful message. The conductor, but exhausted, ended up thanked his talented group and the supporters of the concert. Despite a modest donation at the exit, the organizers were optimistic: "People paid admission." The proceeds flow into the preservation of the Arch Abbey Beuron and its art treasures.
