Culture change in the district of Sigmaringen: New face for the district culture forum!

Edwin Ernst Weber, the long-standing district culture and archive office manager, has given its function as managing director of the district culture forum in an emotional handover. This decision became necessary after he retired in summer. Weber, who has headed the Kulturforum since it was founded in 2002, described his task as his "child". At a time when the district of Sigmaringen did not yet have elaborated cultural concept, he played a key role in laying a strong foundation.

The first chairman of the forum, district administrator Stefanie Bürkle, praised Weber's commitment and named the successes that have been achieved in recent decades. Under Weber's leadership, the district has become a pioneer in cultural support. She emphasized that his work had a major impact on the identity of the district. "You can see what they have done," said Bürkle and referred to the high binding effect of Weber, which has succeeded in combining volunteering and main office and thus generating stable membership numbers.

farewell and new elections

Another important aspect of the event was the adoption of Nikolaus Mohr, a founding member and deputy chair since 2004. Stefanie Bürkle praised his outstanding contributions with a professional and artistic background. In addition, Gerhard Fedscher was adopted in the office of the auditor after twelve years, who was particularly well deserved in his home community Ostrach and with Franco-German history.

As part of the new elections, Simon Klaiber, head of the city of Pfullendorf, unanimously elected the new cash auditor. Franz Kerle from Ostrach also takes over a deputy chair. "I want to make a difference and bring people together," said Kerle, who has already drawn attention to himself through a music festival and a theater event.

New managing director and future projects

Vera Hollfelder will succeed Edwin Ernst Weber and was elected as the new managing director of the district culture forum in the same meeting. Since July 1, she has been taking over the business and has already brought extensive experience in the fields of archive, museums and adult education centers. "No idea is too absurd to talk about it," she encouraged the members to open them openly and to develop new concepts.

In the meeting, the cultural center of 2023 was also looked back, which praised Weber's work with the special exhibition "Cultural Promotion in the Sigmaringen district". In addition, the current cultural focus "significant women" was presented, which offers a wide range of events on topics related to women in art, literature and music. The deputy chairman Diane Kopp was pleased with the great participation of over 2000 participants in the events.

Future projects have also been discussed, including the cultural focus of 2025 "Freedom-equality-500 years of peasant war-what remains?". Vera Hollfelder emphasized the importance of this topic up to the present day and the planned cooperation with the state of Baden-Württemberg, which will also deal with this historical context next year. Both professional and hobbyist artists have the opportunity to present their works and stories. The freedom of art in the district should be made clear.
