Gutenstein celebrates 50 years of incorporation: a festival full of gratitude!

In the autumn-decorated community center von Gutenstein, the district celebrated the 50-year incorporation to the city of Sigmaringen last weekend with a ceremony. The occasion that was initially accompanied by mixed feelings found a festive echo, since the advantages of the merger are clearly noticeable.

Gutenstein's new mayor, Karin Mühlhans, shone on her first big appearance. Together with Mayor Marcus Ehm, the assembly of the former and current local and municipal councils and the population, she was pleased with the positive development since the incorporation. Mayor Ehm brought his sense of humor and pointed out that he was only two years old at the time of incorporation and had not been sitting at the negotiating table. Nevertheless, he looked back at the strenuous conversations that his predecessor Rudolf Kuhn had to hold to enable the integration.

The city kept its promises

In retrospect, Ehm found that the city had followed all promises. The construction of modern infrastructures such as the sewage treatment plant or the renovation of the community center are just a few of the examples that the mayor gave. "Gutenstein became and is a full -fledged district of Sigmaringen, the most beautiful Baden district," says Ehm.

particularly good response found Ehm’s statement about the priority of the kindergarten, which is essential for the village community. Despite the initially existing concerns that smaller districts could possibly be lost in the urban agenda, the mayor emphasized that no district was neglected. The incorporation, according to Ehm, was ultimately a win-win situation for everyone involved.

dr. Armin Heim, historian from Meßkirch, illuminated the historical aspects of Gutenstein during the celebration. His explanations led to the understanding of the frequently changing political affiliations of the place, which go back to 1212. Heim explains how the village initially came into the hands of different gentlemen as a fief in Habsburg before the counts of rooms took over the rule. Due to the circumstances of history, the place would not have joined the incorporation, had remained belonging to the 19th century as Hohenzollern's rule and never became Baden.

an important day for the community

In a day that was characterized by friendship and cohesion, Ehm emphasized the importance of open and friendly cooperation for the future. "It is much more pleasant to work together if we face each other open -minded instead of approaching each other with skepticism and aversion," said the mayor. The festival was enriched by the local band under the direction of Alois Kille, which ensured an atmospheric atmosphere.

The event itself was well attended and offered a visual highlight with a picture exhibition on the past 50 years in Gutenstein. The rural youth took care of the physical well -being of the guests, and Mayor Mühlhans expressly thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of the festival, including the designer of the flyer and the decorator.

celebrations also framed an ecumenical service that focused on the topic of community. A significant day in local history was thus recognized both festively and thoughtfully, which underlined the importance of incorporation for Gutenstein.
