Balingen labor market: Unemployment sinks, but job offers are disappearing!

Unemployment in the Sigmaringen district shows a stagnant development in October, with 2780 people who are currently without a job. According to the monthly report of the Balingen Employment Agency, the number of unemployed has dropped by 20 people or 0.3 percent, which stabilizes the unemployment rate to 3.6 percent. These numbers reflect a certain relaxation on the job market, but the demand for new workers clearly decreases.

particularly young unemployed people affected

A look at the age groups shows that 730 of the unemployed are under 25 years old. Fortunately, this number has dropped by over 5 percent since September. Anke Traber, the head of the Balingen employment agency, comments on the situation: "October is traditionally not a bad month for us." Nevertheless, the decline in unemployment is left behind the expectations, especially among the older unemployed from the age of 50, where a slight increase to 2830 people was recorded.

vacancies in the decline

The domestic companies reported 430 new jobs in October, which means a decline of 50 jobs compared to the previous month. A total of 4,650 vacancies have been recorded since the beginning of the year, which corresponds to a decline of around 17 percent compared to the previous year. Currently around 2,610 positions are still vacant, which illustrates the challenge for the employment agency services.
