50 years later: Former engineers celebrate their roots in Sigmaringen

An emotional reunion took place at the university when 14 remarkable women who graduated in nutrition and hygiene technology as well as clothing technology in 1972 returned to celebrate the roots of their academic journey. These pioneers, who bravely opted for technical courses, who were anything but a matter of course at the time, were warmly welcomed by the dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Carola Pickhardt. "They are not only our roots, but also our role models," she emphasized, emphasizing the importance of the graduates today.

a look into the past

The morning was shaped by memories and nostalgia. Andreas Schmid, Vice Dean of the Faculty, led the former students through the university and presented the impressive changes of the past 50 years. The former dormitory, which once served as classrooms, have turned into modern offices and laboratories. "Our lectures took place here at the time," said the women, while they were reminiscent of it. It was a time when many of today's technologies and study content were still in its infancy.

The alumni meeting was organized by Sigrid Kleinbrahm and Claudia Zott, and to everyone was also Prof. Dr. Werner Peschke, a former lecturer, present. After the official part, the former students continued their meeting in a Sigmaringen restaurant, where they exchanged their experiences and anecdotes and strengthened the gang of friendship.
