Hydrogen filling stations in the Black Forest Baar district: Tanks empty after explosion!
The hydrogen supply in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region is facing a dramatic collapse! The hydrogen went out at the petrol stations and the reason is a devastating explosion in a hydrogen filling system. According to reports, a transport trailer was completely destroyed, but fortunately there were no injuries. But what does that mean for the hydrogen cars of the region?
The leading operator of hydrogen filling stations in Germany, H2 mobility, confirmed in a press release that the incident has far -reaching consequences. Other suppliers have to check their equipment for security deficiencies, which leads to an acute shortage of delivery vehicles. The situation is alarming: petrol stations nationwide can no longer be supplied with hydrogen, and the tanks are empty!
The tanks are empty!
The only hydrogen filling station in Geisingen, operated by Shell, is also affected. The online map of H2 Mobility shows that the next tank facilities in Freiburg, Stuttgart and Ulm are also empty. Owners of hydrogen cars are forced to avoid petrol stations around Basel and Zurich or to accept long trips to Bad Rappenau, Heidelberg or Mannheim. A truly worrying sign for the future of hydrogen mobility in the region!
The Geisinger petrol station should be available again by November 22nd at 12 noon at the latest. However, the replacement deliveries are only possible to a limited extent due to the massive quantity shortages and the large distances to other hydrogen sources. Frank Fronzke, Managing Director of H2 Mobility Germany, spoke of a "Force Majeure situation" and emphasizes that one tries intensively for solutions. But the problem is far from solved in mid -November!
