Schwarz Group fights against 350,000 cyber attacks a day!
The black group, known for their brands Lidl and Kaufland, sees itself in an increasingly intensive fight against cyber attacks. Around 350,000 attacks have to be warded off every day, with the majority of these attacks come from Russia. Gerd Chrzanowski, the company's managing director, told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” that only around 3,500 attacks per day were registered before the Ukraine conflict. This changed situation underlines the pressing challenge with which the group is faced.
The company, headquartered in Neckarsulm, finds that a single goal can not only affect it, but that attacks on "one of us" all hit all in the sector. That is why you can see the need for collaboration in the field of cybersecurity. "We compete with eggs, bananas and milk, but not with cybersecurity," continued Chrzanowski.
joint development of AI software
In order to counteract these increasing threats, the black group plans to develop a solution based on artificial intelligence together with a US company. This new software should not only be used internally, but also made accessible competitors in retail. This signals a clear step towards a collective defense against cyber threats, with which the company promotes the industry -wide cooperation.
The group took over an Israeli cybersecurity company in 2021 to expand its own know-how in this area. In addition to developing its own solutions, the black group also offers security solutions to other companies, such as SAP. The two companies that have now entered into a partnership in cyber security rely on the security product XM Cyber in order to better protect themselves against cyber attacks.
investments and new infrastructure
According to its own statements, the Schwarz Group invests around eight billion euros annually in innovative projects and future-oriented business areas. This also includes the expansion of your digital infrastructure. A new IT campus is currently being built in Bad Friedrichshall, which will be part of the newly founded “Schwarz Digits” division, which includes more than 7,500 employees. The completion of this million -dollar project is planned for 2026 and is intended to work modern and enable efficient cyber defense.
These developments show that companies, like the Schwarz Group, are increasingly taking proactive steps in order to remain resilient in a world of constant cyber threats. The generation and protection of your own know-how are in the foreground in order to meet the challenges in the digital world and continue to act as a strong player in the food trade and beyond. Более того, the opening of new IT infrastructures and the focus on cyber security solutions are not only important for the company itself, but could also have far-reaching effects on the entire industry.
