Serious accident in Weinheim: pedestrian hit by tram!

Drama in Weinheim! On Saturday afternoon, the fire department was called to a shocking accident at the Pilgerhaus stop. A 57-year-old man was hit by a tram and suffered serious injuries. The incident occurred around 12.30 p.m. in the Lützelsachsen district of Weinheim when the unfortunate man crossed the tracks despite the red light. The tram dragged him for several meters, which made the situation even more dramatic.

First responders were quickly on the scene and were able to free the man from under the tram before the fire department arrived. The fire brigade and rescue services immediately took over medical care. The seriously injured man was immediately taken to hospital. But not only the victims, the tram driver also suffered a shock and had to be cared for. Support came from the psychosocial emergency care of the Weinheim fire department and the pastoral care unit of the Rhein-Neckar district.

The dramatic scenes led to rail traffic being completely closed in both directions for an hour and a half. Federal Highway 3 also had to be temporarily closed for emergency services. While the fire brigade secured the accident site and cleaned the tracks, Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV) ensured that the tram could leave safely again after the incident.
