Wilhelmsdorf is faced with financial challenges: Budget 2025 in danger!

In the tranquil community of Wilhelmsdorf, those responsible face a financial challenge that looks anything but rosy! Planning for the 2025 budget has stalled, and the councils have to prepare for a parish meeting in November in order to clarify the pressing questions. The uncertainty about the property tax reform hovers like a Damocles sword over the citizens, while the community has to expect a difficult year.

The treasurer and the former mayor Sandra Fleecue could not announce any positive news. Especially bitter: The construction of the new fire station, which was originally planned for 2023, remains uncertain. "We cannot give you an exact time," said treasurer Stephan Gerster. The financial means needed for the project are not in sight. The Otto-Lilienthal Realschule also has to wait-the project is currently unreasonable!

financial bottlenecks and increasing debt

The numbers speak for themselves: The municipality could be in 2025 with a per capita debt of 1348 euros, while the average in Baden-Württemberg is over 500 euros. The financial allocations are falling because the census in 2022 resulted in a decline in 319 inhabitants. "Too many tasks meet too little money," summarizes the precarious situation. The councils now have to set priorities and turn on the adjustment screws to stabilize the financial situation.

Despite the dark forecasts, there is a ray of hope: The new building at the school center will be handed over in the coming spring, which will give the junior high school new specialist rooms and modern technology. However, around 11.6 million euros are required for the expansion of the school center - a mammoth task that can only be mastered with the support of neighboring communities such as Heiligenberg. Talks about financial participation are already underway!
