Udo Mann receives Staufer medal: a life for social justice!
A moving evening in Weingarten: Udo Mann, the respected civil engineer and SPD veteran, was awarded the prestigious medal of Staufer in the state of Baden-Württemberg! Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann honored Mann for his extraordinary voluntary commitment, which has an effect far beyond the city limits.
The ceremonial handover took place on Monday, November 11th, in the Schlössle City Museum, where Minister of Social Affairs and Integration Manne Lucha presented the award. Udo Mann, visibly moved, accepted the medal, which recognizes his tireless efforts for social justice. Born in Stuttgart in 1942, man as a house architect and technical manager at the KBZO foundation from 1975 to 2007 realized pioneering school projects and was involved in the local council and district council for over 34 years.

"You left traces that go far beyond the city of Weingarten," praised Minister Lucha in his laudation. Man is described as a "multifunctional problem solver" who works for an inclusive and barrier -free society. Thanks to its vision and determination, Weingarten was recognized as a barrier -free community in 1998 and 2008. Doris Spieß, group leader of the SPD in the municipal council, emphasized his "enormous expertise" and his tireless commitment to the city, while Mayor Clemens Moll praised his role as a compensatory voice in disputed topics.
In his acceptance speech, Udo Mann expressed concern about the current global political situation, but looked back on his life's performance gratefully. With the support of his wife Marianne, he always accepted challenges and pursued his ideas with persistence. Even at the age of 82, his motto "Carpe Diem" and "Never, never, never," a guide for his life.
