Tragedy in the Alps: hikers falls 150 meters into death!

A trip to the mountains ended in a terrible misfortune! On Sunday afternoon, a 54-year-old hiker from the Ravensburg district fell to death during a hike in the Alpen region of Bludenz. His wife was a witness to the tragic incident and had to watch helplessly.

The experienced couple had set off with their dog to enjoy the picturesque nature. The route led her from Bludenz/Hinterpläsch over the Brazer Höhenweg to the Elsalpe and back. But what was planned as a relaxing day in the mountains turned into a nightmare.

The fatal fall

Around noon they reached the 1,350 meter high lead head. The man wanted to avoid grazing on a steep zigzag path when he suddenly lost his hold. Unknown reasons meant that he plunged about 150 meters into the depths over steep, rocky terrain. Despite the immediate help of his wife and the rescue workers who came with a helicopter, all help came too late. The hiker died at the scene of the accident. The police confirm that the man comes from the Ravensburg district, as the SWR reports.
