Ravensburg: Street lighting will remain longer in the future!
Ravensburg: Street lighting will remain longer in the future!
A pioneering decision for Ravensburg! The technical committee of the local council has decided to reduce the nightly darkness. The street lighting, which was switched off due to the energy crisis and the Ukraine war, is now switched on earlier. From now on, the night shutdown in the core city is shortened until 4 a.m. on working days, instead of until 5 a.m. On the weekends the light remains all night!
The decision is a reaction to the needs of the citizens, especially the many shift workers and newspaper deliverers who work in the city. The administration took the inquiries from the citizens seriously and adjusted the regulation. In addition, the area around the Upper Swabia Clinic is excluded from the night shutdown to ensure security in this important area.
Technical adjustments required
But the return to the light in the early morning is not implemented immediately. The technical works of Schussental must first make technical adjustments. The complete implementation is planned for spring 2025. The city administration has already warned that the additional costs for the city are difficult to assess due to the uncertain electricity prices. At the moment, additional costs of around 22,000 euros per year are expected if the lighting is extended.
Ravensburg shows that it is ready to react to the needs of its citizens and at the same time master the challenges of the energy crisis. The coming months will show how the situation will develop and whether the city can handle the financial burdens.
