Ravensburg receives award for exemplary cycling and foot traffic planning!
Ravensburg did it! As part of the quality offensive of the working group bicycle and pedestrian-friendly municipalities in Baden-Württemberg e. V. (AGFK-BW) the city was awarded a new quality level-and this as one of the first municipalities in general! The ceremonial handover took place in Tübingen, where Transport Minister Winfried Hermann together with Günter Riemer, the CEO of AGFK-BW, Mayor Dirk Bastin presented the certificate.
The award is based on a strict evaluation process that took a close look at the local conditions of the foot and cycling infrastructure. Criteria such as maintenance measures, political support and mobility in schools were assessed. Ravensburg is clearly ahead here!
Ravensburg's innovative mobility plans
The cycling concept and the city's climate mobility plan are particularly impressive. These plans show that Ravensburg is determined to actively promote climate -friendly mobility. Mayor Dirk Bastin said: "This award is a step on the way to improve traffic safety and promote climate -neutral mobility." Transport Minister Hermann emphasized how important this quality level is: "The excellent municipalities show how attractive, safe and climate-friendly cycle and footpaths can be designed." Ravensburg sets new standards in traffic and urban planning and undertakes to quickly increase the standards for cycling and foot traffic. The city is well on the way to becoming a model for other municipalities!
In addition to the award, the municipalities received valuable guidelines in order to master existing challenges. These include strategic measures for infrastructure planning and communication. The goal? An active mobility and a climate -neutral future by 2030!(Source: City of Ravensburg)
