Building plans in Federburgstrasse: modernization or loss of the charm?
Building plans in Federburgstrasse: modernization or loss of the charm?
in Ravensburg are profound changes in the popular Federburgstrasse on the way! Here, a contemporary building from the 1960s is to be subjected to a profound redesign that does not encounter consent to all residents. Mayor Dirk Bastin announces that the current building should not only be preserved, but should also be upgraded!
The planned project provides to equip the facade with generous balconies that extend over the entire front. And that's not all: an underground car park is to be created under the building! But the decision is not easy, because the new design wants to fit into the urban picture with modern glass fronts - something that the residents have not yet been used to. "You know something like that from metropolises," warns Bastin and indicates that the previous plans have to be revised again in order to take into account the legitimate concerns of the residents.
Building dynamics Despite resistances
Not only on Federburgstrasse is planned: there is also a radical upheaval in Oppoltshofer Weg 2, near the Ravensburg cemetery. A large single -family house should fall and make room for a modern residential building with a flat roof. Here the plans are still in the earliest phase, but the builders seem to be determined to reduce the living space in order to give the property more space. Bastin, however, made it clear that these plans also have to be coordinated with the wishes of the Advisory Board in order to find a harmonious solution.
The discussions about these projects clearly show: Ravensburg is at a turning point where tradition meets modern needs. The redesign not only raise questions about architecture, but also about the identity of the district. The citizens are challenged because their voices count when it comes to what their city will look like in the future!
