Big changes in Malsch: roundabout L 67 is modernized!
The Karlsruhe regional council has been dealing with the renovation of the roundabout on L 67/Daimlerstrasse in Malsch since the end of July 2024. This measure is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of traffic by increasing the radii of the roundabout and the road surface is renewed. The crossing options for pedestrians and cyclists also improve, which is an essential upgrading of the transport infrastructure.
Overall, the project is divided into three construction phases. The full completion of the work is planned for the end of October 2024, whereby the first two sections are expected to be completed on October 14, 2024. These sections include the renewal of the L 67 district lane in robust concrete and the improvement of the foot and bike paths.
construction progress and transport adjustments
On October 14th at 10 a.m., traffic safety will be changed, which means that the L 67 circular lane between Neumalsch and Muggensturm can be passed again. Despite this progress, access to Thomas-Dachser-Straße remains guaranteed via Daimlerstrasse for the period before 10 a.m. After this time, access will only be possible via the L 67 and the renovated roundabout. During the third construction phase, however, the passage through Daimlerstrasse remains completely blocked.
The detour for pedestrians and cyclists will continue to lead along the railway line to the Daimlerstrasse industrial area. In order to keep the impairments as low as possible, the Karlsruhe regional council asks all road users for understanding.
The financial framework for the entire construction project amounts to around 1.4 million euros. These costs are borne by the state, which sets a sign of the state government's commitment to improve traffic conditions in the region.
The Karlsruhe regional council offers a project page for people who are interested in current information on the project. In addition, further information on the traffic situation and construction sites via the "Verkehrsinfo BW" app are accessible, which is a valuable resource for commuters and residents.
Such construction projects are crucial to make our road traffic more secure and more efficient. The subsequent improvements are not only a logistical necessity, but also contribute to the general quality of life and safety of all users. With a clear focus on the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, Malsch sets a positive example of future traffic planning in Germany.
