Traffic chaos in Offenburg: Road construction brings dealers in need!
in Offenburg this week has a demanding traffic situation that drivers who want to go to the city center present challenges. From Monday, the main street between Stadtbuckel and Kinzigbrücke was extensively renovated. In the first section, the main street is closed out of town from Stadtbuckel to Freiburger Straße. This led to considerable traffic jams and long waiting times on the detour routes. Marie-Christine Gabriel from the press office of the city of Offenburg said that it would take one or two days for road users to get used to the new traffic management.
The first difficulties now seem to have been overcome because traffic is now going better. Gabriel confirmed that the city, together with the traffic authority, is observing the affected areas in order to make adjustments to the traffic routing, especially at the Südring/Platanallee intersection.
criticism of dealers
Despite the adapted traffic routing, there are concerns from local retailers. Achim Kirsche, Managing Director of City Partner Offenburg, expressed that the alternative routes had not been communicated sufficiently. "However, we are in dialogue with the city and business development," added cherry. The city confirmed that the start of construction was laid carefully on the Sunday that was open to sales in order to complete the work before the important Christmas business.
For cherry and the dealers, the current situation is particularly worrying because they fear that the traffic disruptions could deter potential buyers. "The time of the construction work is unhappy, especially the fourth quarter is of enormous importance for us," said Kirsche. He emphasized how important it was to actively inform the public about when the city could be reached again without restrictions.
Dissatisfaction among dealers is high, also with regard to the speed camera that was set up on some detour routes. This not only passes the reality of the current situation, but also causes resentment. Cherry emphasized that the city actively works in order to minimize the effects of the construction work for dealers in the remaining construction period of around four weeks. The ongoing discussion shows how much dealers and city administration are necessary to find a solution for the current problem together.
