The merger of the Volksbank Rhein-Wehra with the Volksbank "The Design Bank" from Offenburg and Villingen-Schwenningen is about to graduate! In an extraordinary assembly on Wednesday, the last formal steps were taken, while the banks prepare for the technical merging. From the coming weekend, the independent Volksbank Rhein-Wehra will no longer exist after more than 53 years of history!
What does that mean for customers? From Monday, November 4th, the customers of Volksbank Rhein-Wehra have to expect restrictions. The account extract printers can only be used to a limited extent for several days, and online banking will be completely offline from November 8th to November 10th! So important banking transactions should be preferred! On Friday, November 8th, all branches remain closed to complete the technical merger.

Why do the banks merge? The design bank wants to grow through this merger and secure strategic access to the Swiss money market. CEO Alexander Müller emphasizes that this merger can create offers that are only reserved for large providers. The new bank will be one of the largest cooperative banks in Baden-Württemberg, with an impressive balance sheet total of 13.25 billion euros and 131,000 members!
There are also changes in terms of personnel: Werner Thomann, who was chairman of the board for 17 years, changes to the Supervisory Board. The new supervisory boards are Maya Mehlhorn and Michael Vogel.
