Hauptfeuerwache, Mannheim, Deutschland - The Oktoberfest has officially started in Mannheim, while the Munich “Wiesn” is already in the past. Mayor Thorsten Riehle (SPD) opened the festival on Friday evening with a strong blow to the beer barrel in the marquee at the main fire station. Until November 9th, party enthusiasts can now enjoy the unique flair of the celebrations in the Baden-Württemberg city.

The opening was not completely sold out, but Festwirt Arno Kiegele immediately put a good mood for visitors. He asked for a little patience and understanding, because the path to the marquee turned out to be somewhat cumbersome due to the heavily divided floor. A special challenge for everyone who usually arrives by car or taxi. Nevertheless, the mood could not be clouded and the guests were ready to enjoy the celebrations in full.

Instead of the rocking sounds of AC/DC, which were mentioned by a misleading report, the band "Störzelbacher & Strings" ensured the musical background. With their hits, they brought a program that set on 50 years of German hits and always intercepted a "prosit of cosiness" in between. The festival goers, dressed in traditional costumes such as lederhosen and dirndls, were quickly carried away by the rousing music.

The atmosphere was festive and pleasantly relaxed. Alena, a regular visitor to the Mannheim Oktoberfest, said: "It's great here every time." With her friends, she already looked back on her third participation. The Oktoberfest in Mannheim takes place for the 16th time and has established itself as a popular festivity that focuses on the essentials of the "Oktoberfest": beer, good music and good mood.

Arno Kiegele, the landlord, emphasized the peaceful atmosphere several times and was pleased with the pre -sale, which has already sold out seven of the ten event days. In the marquee, which is located on the edge of the "Neckarauer Lake District", there is space for 3000 guests, and the organizers are sure that it becomes an unforgettable festival again.

For those who have not yet managed to experience the hearty festival, there are still enough opportunities to enjoy the Bavarian celebration culture in Mannheim. Whether with a large beer mug in your hand or when samping to the hits of the band - the Oktoberfest offers something for every taste. The anticipation for the further festival days is growing and the residents of the city can look forward to seeing many happy faces.
