On New Year's Eve of 2024, there was an incident in the Main-Tauber district that caused the region to excitement. A 38-year-old family man carried out a destructive trip with a cycling excavator, which finally ended with his death. According to the investigations by the Mosbach public prosecutor and the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Baden-Württemberg, the crime apparently deliberately planned and could have accepted his own death, as the Main-post.
Already three days before the incident, the 38-year-old stood by the police in Suhl, Thuringia, and admitted various crimes, including offenses in the field of narcotics and property crime. He wanted to make a "pure table" and had created a document to authorize his wife to regulate his affairs. On the morning of the day, the man was picked up at his place of residence in Thuringia and brought to Tauberbischofsheim. Around 1 p.m. he started on the site of the construction company of his former employer in Grünsfeld with the destruction trip.

During the destruction trip, which lasted about an hour, the man stole an excavator and caused damage to vehicles and buildings. Three police officers were injured when the police tried to stop him. The 38-year-old was finally stopped by police delets and died despite attempts to resuscitate on site. Mayor Joachim Markert von Grünsfeld and the independent mayor Anette Schmidt von Tauberbischofsheim expressed horrified about the events. Schmidt praised the rapid action of the emergency services.
