Philippsburg starts the future: New converter brings wind power!
A milestone for the future of energy: On Friday, the new converter will be officially put into operation on the site of the former nuclear power plant in Philippsburg! After more than four years of hard construction work, this technological progress will help to bring electricity from the North Sea wind farms to the south of Germany. A truly historical moment for the region!
The converter is the heart of the ambitious energy transition project Ultranet. Here the electricity, which flows over 340 kilometers from Meerbusch in North Rhine-Westphalia, is converted into alternating current in Philippsburg in Philippsburg and distributed into the network. This means that sustainable energy from the wind farms, including EnBW, will soon also be available in the households in the south. A big step towards a more environmentally friendly energy supply!
waiting for the green stream
Philippsburg is changing: the blasting of the cooling towers of the former nuclear power plant in May 2020 marked the end of an era. Now, with the new converter, the region is becoming a symbol of the transition to renewable energies. An exciting step into the future, which could change the energy landscape sustainably!
