After a real financial drama, nails are now being made with their heads: The district of Schwäbisch Hall has decided to take over the Diak Clinic together with the SRH Holding! This hospital has struggled with gigantic million deficits in the past. On January 1, 2025, the Diak Clinic could get a new, stable carrier - or rather: two!

The Schwäbisch Hall district council has recently agreed to a cornerstone paper that the way for necessary contract negotiations with the previous operator Deacono Ebnet. Discussions about a takeover by the district had already been fueled at the beginning of the year. Now the negotiations are in the starting blocks, with the SRH Holding from Heidelberg being a strong partner on board to ensure the necessary security in the long term.

The development creates a spirit of optimism, but there is still a lot to clarify! A sustainable medical concept for the Region is still on the to-do list. And the time is urgent: District Administrator Gerhard Bauer (independent) said that the takeover can be achieved in good time at the turn of the year! But while he appeals to federal politics to ensure quickly and adequate hospital financing, the dimension of the problem is obvious. The previous operator Diakono had to accept an incredible loss of around 21.5 million euros in 2023 alone. The municipalities can no longer manage these massive deficits!
