Heidelberg: New Center for Creative Economy opened 2025!

In the heart of Heidelberg, a new chapter for the cultural and creative industries is opened. At the Marlene-Dietrich-Platz, construction work is progressing for a future-oriented economic center. The cultural and creative management center, which is expected to open in spring 2025, promises a platform for fresh ideas and creative minds.

From now on, companies, including (solo) self-employed in the cultural and creative industries, can register online for viewing dates of the new premises. A guided tour is planned in November 2024, in which interested parties can take a first look at the old stables next to the Karlstorbahnhof. Registration takes place via the website www.dezernat16.de/stallungen.

framework conditions for interested parties

The cultural and creative management center is designed as a "phase 2 center", which means that it is aimed at companies that have already reached an advanced state of the foundation. This makes a bridge to established market structures and complements the offers of the existing Department#16 in Bergheim. Workshops, studios, offices and storage rooms are planned in the south wing of the old stables, while musicians still have to be patient: the rehearsal rooms in the north wing are only planned for a later date. The work for this should also begin in 2025.

For a balanced use of the premises, the rental is limited to two years. If the company has a positive development, it can even keep space for up to five years. For this purpose, a mandatory evaluation with Heidelberger Services gGmbH in cooperation with the Cultural and Creative Industry and the Office for Economic Development and Science is carried out.

The inspection is only offered for a limited number of people taking into account the active construction site. Each company may register a maximum of two people for the tour. An early registration is therefore advisable; The registrations are considered in the order of the entrance.

The laying of the foundation for the cultural and creative management center could not only initiate a positive turn for the city of Heidelberg, but for the entire region. It opens up new players from the creative industry and promotes networking with each other, which can be decisive for innovative projects.
