Heidelberg: Massive diversions on Adenauerplatz - commuters in concern!
Heidelberg faces an intensive phase of the traffic divisions that will affect commuters from Monday, October 7th. Extensive track work will be carried out in the area of Adenauerplatz by October 13th. Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV) has announced that numerous tram and bus lines and private transport will be affected by these measures.
It is particularly important for commuters to adjust to longer travel times. This applies to trips from the north of Heidelberg to the south and from the east to the west. The Bismarckplatz is classified as critical, since an increase in traffic is expected.
diversions for traffic
The diversions are extensive and affect different transport. For example, motorized traffic cannot drive from Bismarckplatz to Rohrbacher Strasse. Instead, it is diverted via the Kurfürsten facility towards the Roman circle. The Friedrich-Ebert-based system is also affected because trips towards the Roman circle are not possible.
For cyclists and pedestrians, clear diversions are signposted. It is important to mention that the traffic towards the old town is not affected by the Kurfürsten facility, which is important for residents and visitors to the old town.
In addition to the diversions for private transport, several bus and tram lines are also affected. Bahn lines 5, 22, 23 and 25 are diverted, with lines 5 and 25 driving over Bergheimer Straße. Lines 22 and 23 begin and end at the Seegarten stop, which is close to the work.
In addition, redirections on bus lines 20, 31, 31, 34, 35, 39, 39, 39, 3 and 5. Two replacement stops are set up: One is placed in Sofienstraße at the confluence with the PLÖCK, the other in the Kurfürsten facility, opposite the confluence with the Poststrasse. The “Bismarckplatz” bus stop and the “Seegarten” stop will be set up at these stops.
The coming days will be a test of patience for all public transport users, and the RNV will ask all road users to plan their routes in advance in order to avoid the disorders as best as possible. Detailed information on the changes in public transport are to find here .
