Glass fiber survey: Why the Germans hesitate to switch!

shocking survey results from Heidelberg! According to a representative study by the Verivox comparison portal, more than 50 percent of Germans reject a switch to a fiber optic contract! Despite the tempting advantages of this super -fast technology, the majority remains skeptical. Of around 1,000 respondents, 35 percent clearly said "no" when it comes to switching to fiber optic. The main reason? Satisfaction with the current Internet connection! Many also fear the effort associated with a change.

But that's not all: Even if almost half of the respondents have a positive attitude towards fiber optic, they are not ready to sign a contract. A third of the potential changers complain about the high costs of the tariffs, which can be between 40 and 90 euros per month. So the question remains: Why don't the Germans use the advantages of the lightning -fast internet? The answer is simple: the price and the need! Many households simply do not need the high bandwidth of up to 1,000 megabits per second and prefer to use cheaper alternatives.

glass fiber: the future of the Internet?

fiber optic internet is considered the best technology for stable and fast data transmission. In “Fiber to the Home” (FTTH), data transmission via light signals is realized, which it takes off from conventional copper cables. The Federal Government has set itself the goal of providing fiber optic connections across the board by 2030. It is estimated that fiber optics are already available in 20 million households and companies. But the big problem remains: Many who theoretically have a connection does not sign a contract. The high costs for installation and the necessary devices scare many.

In the meantime, DSL/VDSL remains the most widespread technology in German households. Almost half of the respondents use this connection, while only one fifth has already switched to pure fiber optic internet. The survey clearly shows that the Germans are technology -savvy, but when it comes to fiber optics, the big breakthrough is missing!
