Circus project Hoppla Hopp: Coping with funeral for children in the Göppingen district

Rechberghausen, Deutschland - In the district of Göppingen, an innovative mourning project for children and families is launched! The Malteser Child and Youth Hospice Service plans to expand its mourning work with an exciting circus project and a ward hike. These initiatives are intended to help grieving children process their emotions and to draw new hope.

The circus project "Hoppla Hopp" offers children who have suffered a loss, a platform to share and process their grief. Here the little ones not only learn tricks, but also learn that they are not alone in their pain. Dorothe Heidgreß, an experienced mourning companion, emphasizes how important it is to show the children that there is a way back to life.

Unique grief coping through circus art

The circus group begins every meeting with a ritual in which the children light candles for their deceased relatives. This symbolic gesture helps you to overcome the feeling of loneliness. Under the guidance of the circus educator Martin Bucovsek, the children learn exciting tricks and proudly present their skills at the end of the event. "They grow beyond themselves and strengthen their self -confidence," explains Heidgreß enthusiastically.

In addition to the circus group, Heidgreß plans a station hike that gives the families the opportunity to deal with their grief together. This hike, which was successfully carried out during the Corona pandemic, offers the participants the chance to exchange ideas about their feelings at various stations and process grief. A joint event with grilling and entertainment should round off the whole thing.

The GZ Christmas campaign supports these valuable projects for coping with funeral. Donations are urgently needed to further expand the offers for mourning children and their families. Each post counts and is recognized in the GZ. Help to give these children and families a voice and to help them in their hardest time!
