A crucial step is to bring the tomatoes to their winter quarters in good time. Experts warn: tomato plants are sensitive! They should only be planted out after the "ice saints" because they cannot tolerate temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius well. When the days get shorter and cooler, it is important to bring the plants into a light, warm and protected space as quickly as possible. If you keep the plants in the pot, it has easier- balcony or pot tomatoes are ideal for wintering!

The wintering is not child's play! Only robust varieties have a chance to survive the winter. And what about the "winter tomatoes"? These special varieties ripen slower, but are not necessarily hardy. So if you don't want to do without the sweet fruits in winter, you should prepare well and make the right decisions!
