The fourth grade students of the Friedrich-Silcher School from Birkenfeld are enthusiastic, while they explore skins by Fuchs, Hase, Dachs and Reh. "Which fur is soft?" "Our goal is to arouse enthusiasm for nature and to convey knowledge about the forest in a playful way," explains Kienzle. The forest pedagogy team offers exciting events for school classes and families, with lessons always taking place outdoors. "We want the forest to be the place of learning and not the classroom." The children experience the forest with all their senses and get to know the winter active animals such as wild boar and fox. Materials such as fur samples allow children to feel the differences between the animals up close.

Forest education has been an integral part of the educational offer in the Enzkreis since 2012 and is very popular. "We are present in the whole circle and the demand is great," says Kienzle.
